It is all decided in the first few seconds.

After thirty years on callouts I remember one thing: when someone is choking, the paramedics cannot always get there in time. The very first seconds are what make the difference. With this device you can act straight away, while the ambulance or the fire crew is on its way. I keep one at home myself, in the kitchen drawer.

How to use it

Three movements, nothing more.

  • Place it: put the right size mask over the nose and mouth, pressing firmly so that it seals perfectly.
  • Push down: hold the mask with one hand and push the handle down with the other.
  • Pull: upwards, in one firm movement. The suction draws out whatever is blocking the airway.
What's in the box
  • 1 anti-choking device
  • 1 adult mask
  • 1 child mask for little ones
  • 1 carry case you can spot at a glance
  • 1 illustrated guide you can read in two minutes
Shipping and returns

Shipping: tracked delivery, with the tracking number sent the moment your parcel ships.

Returns: you have 90 days to change your mind. One email is enough and we refund the price. The device carries a 2 year warranty.

Is it right for the whole family?

Yes. The kit includes two mask sizes, one adult and one child, so it works for everyone from a toddler to an older relative. The non-return valve stops the obstruction slipping deeper, which makes it safe even for the most fragile.

Do I need training?

No. It is designed so that anyone can use it, without training and even in shock. Three movements are enough: place, push, pull. The illustrated guide included explains everything in two minutes.

How it works

See how the device works

In a choking emergency every second counts. The device is designed to stay obvious and effective even in a panic. Here's how it works, and why it's made for the whole family.

  • Works when the Heimlich manoeuvre isn't enough.
  • For children and adults alike
  • No special knowledge needed: anyone can use it easily.
  • A complement to the steps of first aid

Who needs this device most?

Choking can happen to anyone, but some people are more exposed than others.

Families with children

Older people and grandparents

People living alone

Pregnant women

If someone close to you is in one of these groups, the risk is higher in a choking emergency.

Frequently asked questions

How does the device work?

It is a suction device. You place the mask over the nose and mouth, push the handle down, then pull it up in one firm movement. The suction removes the obstruction within seconds, including when the steps of first aid have not worked.

How quickly does it work?

Within seconds. One sequence is enough: place, push, pull. That speed is exactly what matters, because with a complete blockage there is very little time before lack of oxygen becomes dangerous.

How long does delivery take?

Your parcel is tracked, and you receive the tracking number by email as soon as it ships.

Can I return the product?

Yes. You have 90 days to change your mind. One email is enough and we refund the price. The device carries a 2 year warranty.

Is the device safe?

Yes. It is non-toxic and fitted with a non-return valve that mechanically prevents the obstruction from slipping further down. It comes with two masks, one adult and one child, for the whole family.

How do I reach customer service?

Write to us and we'll reply within 24 working hours.

Do I still need to call an ambulance?

Yes, always. In a choking emergency, call 911 first and apply the steps of first aid. This device is there so that you can act during the minutes you spend waiting for the ambulance. A complement, never a replacement.

Can I use it on myself?

Yes. Unlike the Heimlich manoeuvre, which needs another person's help, this can be used alone, with one hand.

I live alone, this is exactly my case

I often eat alone in the evenings, and I've already had one bad scare with a piece of meat. There's nobody to slap you on the back, that's the frightening part when you're single. What convinced me is that you can use it on yourself. I tried it empty and it works with one hand.

Much sturdier than I expected

Honestly I was expecting flimsy plastic, given what's available online. The bellows is thick and firm, the mask is flexible and nicely clear, you can see through it well. The case is decent too. It matches the photos, and honestly it's even better in person.

Easy to follow, but I'd have liked a video

The manual is well made, three movements and you're done, my wife and I understood it in two minutes. I'm taking off one star because I'd have liked a link to a demo video in the box, that would reassure me even more. I've nothing bad to say about the product itself.

The baby mask was my real question

My daughter is 9 months old, we've just started solids, and this is the period I'm most afraid of. There really are two masks, one small and one large, and the small one genuinely is baby-face sized. That's exactly the detail I was looking for before ordering, because a lot of models only exist in adult size.

Arrived, took a bit longer than expected

The parcel was well packed and tracking worked from start to finish, no complaints there. It took a bit longer than I thought, so I'm giving four stars to be honest about it. For a product like this it's no disaster, but better to order ahead than when you already need it.

It fits in the kitchen drawer

I thought it would take up a lot of room, but the case is actually about the size of a small pencil case. I keep it in the drawer right next to the high chair, within reach during meals. The yellow case catches your eye immediately, no rummaging around for ten seconds.

A proper manual and real customer service

Last year I ordered a similar product from a foreign site, with a slapdash English manual and zero reply when I asked a question. Here the manual is properly written, and I had an answer within a day when I wrote in. For a product like this that changes everything.

I bought it for my mother, not for a child

My mother is 84 and since her stroke she regularly swallows the wrong way, we've had two frights at the table. A lot of people assume this is for babies, but in our case she was the one who needed it. The large mask is for an adult face. There's one at her place and one at ours.

My husband thought it was excessive

When I ordered it my husband said I was overdoing it. Three weeks later he was the one asking for a second one for his parents' house, where we go every Sunday. Nobody thinks it's excessive once the thing is there and we know where it's kept.

Round food terrifies me

It's cherry tomatoes, grapes and round sweets that frighten me, the ones that block the throat completely. I tried the device empty and the suction is firm, you can feel it pulling properly. I always cut everything into quarters, but I can't check what people give my daughter when she's not with me.

I spent two weeks comparing

I spent a good while comparing the models that pop up on social media, plenty of those sites have no address, no proper manual, and nobody to talk to. That's why I chose this one, not for the price, because it isn't the cheapest. For a product like this I'd rather pay a little more and know who I'm dealing with.

I did the course and it still wasn't enough

I did a first aid course three years ago and thought I could relax. On the day my daughter choked on a piece of apple, I just stood there frozen. I knew the movements, but my hands wouldn't obey. That's exactly why I ordered it. Knowing what to do and being able to do it when it happens are two different things.

We used it, and that's why I'm writing

I never thought I'd write this review. My two-year-old with a piece of hot dog, and suddenly no sound at all, it was the silence that frightened me. My husband called the emergency services while I put the mask on. Two pulls and the piece came out. The paramedics came out and checked anyway, everything was fine. I'd never say it's magic, but that evening it did its job.

MedwellThank you, Dora. We always stress this: call 911 first, and the device complements the steps of first aid. You did exactly the right thing.

I'm 68 and I look after my grandchildren

My dread was not having the strength to do chest compressions properly on a little one. Here you don't need to apply force, you place it and pull, the movement comes by itself. I tried it empty several times to reassure myself. No hand strength needed, that settled it for me.

The price stops being a question afterwards

I hesitated over the price, thinking it would just be another object sleeping at the back of a drawer. Then I realised it's the same as a fire extinguisher, and we don't do sums over those. I haven't used it in four months and I hope it stays that way. Not one second of regret.

A complement, not a replacement

I'm a volunteer firefighter and I see a lot of questionable things on this subject. What I value here is that it's presented as a complement, not as a substitute for first aid. We call the emergency services, we do the movements, and this comes in on top. Put that way it's honest, which is why I recommend it to people I know.

MedwellThank you, Norbert. That is our position and it will not change: in the event of choking, call 911 immediately. The device never replaces the steps of first aid or the intervention of the emergency services.

Designed for shaking hands

My fear was panicking and getting it wrong. What reassures me is that there's nothing to set, nothing to measure out, no buttons. You place it on the face, you pull, and that's it. The fewer the steps, the less chance of a mistake in a panic, that's what I told myself.

A fair question about cleaning

The product is good and nicely made. My only reservation is that I'd have liked to read more detail on how to clean it after real use, and when the masks should be replaced. I ended up emailing customer service and they did reply, but it would be better if it were there in black and white in the manual.

MedwellThank you, Catherine, we've noted the point and passed it to the team. The device should be rinsed and dried after use, and we recommend checking it twice a year, the way you would a smoke detector.

I ordered with no risk

What gave me the final push was knowing I could send it back if I didn't like it. In the end I'm keeping it, but when you buy something like this without seeing it in person, that counts for a lot. I got a quick answer to my question before ordering, which is a good enough sign.

I'm a childminder and I keep it within reach

I take four children at home and my mandatory training is up to date. I still wanted this device, because the training always reminds you that time matters most. It's on display in the living room where it can be seen, and parents often ask me where I got it.
